What does chance mean in RTÉ.ie copyspeak?
Here’s a screengrab from RTÉ.ie’s Entertainment news site, offering lucky you something unique.
‘Offering you the chance’ in RTÉ.ie copyspeak means that you haven’t actually won anything except the right to click on a link that redirects you to a video player. And you thought you were special. My writing style is caveman at best, but this copy sucks. It’s misleading.
Am I the only one that thinks that RTÉ is missing * their * chance at making users’ lives that bit easier, by not embedding videos on their pages? Who’s going to push them kicking and screaming into the real-world? Possibly their bloggers?
