Hysteric in a Heartbeat

I bought the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s new album, “Blitz It!” “It’s Blitz!” the other day and it is my best buy this year. It’s uneven in parts, but I’m really enjoying it. Sounds a bit Goldfrapp to me. People ask what it’s like and I give the good/bad/indifferent line. To be honest, it’s not what I think about when I hear it, or when I listen to any music at all.

I’ve been listening to the track ‘Hysteric’ over and over. Every time I hear it, I see a picnic at twilight.

Fingers raking through hedges, bare feet on straight-stemmed blades of rough grass and scampering across granite, midnight blue, trails of lilac scent faintly tied together, the light that sneaks through the edges of your lashes as you blink, an orange being sliced by circumference to reveal a lemon, a walnut and grape lined concentric – like Babushka dolls, flower petals peeled to reveal lights, smells of cut grass, linen-woven cotton being pulled, hands opening and closing, pouring juice and picnic treats from necks of plastic zebras, etc…

Not going to give a review other than that. It’s definitely my favourite track on the album at the minute. Loads of slow burners on it though.
