It Might Get Loud

It Might Get Loud

All housebound, I watched It Might Get Loud last night. Being a massive Led Zep fan it was nice to hear Jimmy Page talk about the recording of ‘Levee..’ in the Headley Grange. Less of The Edge would have nice. Blah blah bleak 70s blah, fuck off. Jack White was concentrating incredibly hard throughout and contradicting his back to basics approach at the very end of the piece. At least he was earnest.

Director Guggenheim could have spent the entire 97 minutes following Page from boy prodigy addicted to the guitar, to his session work, the Yardbirds, LZ and beyond, and we wouldn’t have scratched the surface. Even the scenes where Page swiftly walks through his MASSIVE record collection could have been extracted, extended and made into a multi-part docu series examining forgotten rock and roll legends.

Hello Link Wray 1958.

The newly-facelifted IFI is currently running It Might Get Loud and it’s well worth a viewing on the big screen.
