Last night, Andy Lee switched on the lights of Limerick’s floating Christmas Tree. Things took a surprising turn, and the floating tree crashed into the Shannon Bridge (“New Bridge”). Major traffic chaos ensued. Road closures on the bridge and Bridge roundabout continue.

I hadn’t eaten since lunchtime. So, I ordered a chicken baguette.

This is what I get. Looks like poo in a roll, but it isn’t. The sauce was pseudo-pepper-sauce-in-a-jar-like. Understandably, I left my food behind me.

I notice there’s a bit canvassing happening. Deirdre De Burca’s people were there right beside the cardboard cutouts of Sean Kelly. I was ever so tempted to rob a Kelly, but his supporters were holding tight. It was mostly Fine Gael outside Gill’s where North Circular Road meets Emmet Street.

So there’s a small kerfuffle and I see pro cameras pointing a certain direction. A man is orchestrating the scene. He tells the piper to get into shot. A picture of loads of red-cladded fans surrounding him is taken.

After it dies down a little I approach. A little chit-chat and photo ask later, I get it taken with him. Hello, Enda Kenny!
